Matilde’s poetry embroideries are meditations on the impossible simplicity of life’s multiple truths, as well as on the infinite possibilities of words and language. They take the shape of slogans or affirmations, questions or playfully serious quotes. Within each artwork there is a careful analysis on the significance of colours and what they might evoke, almost as per synaesthesia. The time taken into embroidering each piece by hand is essential to the process and becomes in itself an exercise in zen—reflecting on patience, labour and care.
